Job Description

As a collaborative team member, you'll enjoy contributing ideas, balancing a varied workload, and working alongside others to continually improve our services Manage research support services, interlibrary loans, distance services, and information enquiries for students and staff Build meaningful connections with learners, kaimahi, and colleagues to promote Library services and support success Create engaging workshops, guides, and learning resources that help people develop their research and information skills Maintain high-quality online resources, subject guides, and APA support materials that are relevant, accessible, and up to date Play an active part in the day-to-day operation of the Library, sharing ideas, contributing to improvements, and supporting the team wherever needed The key responsibilities for the role are: Provide research and information support to students and staff through consultations, literature searching, reference services, and guidance on information discovery and evaluation Design and deliver engaging learning experiences that build research skills, information literacy, digital capability, and the ethical use of emerging technologies, including generative AI Develop and maintain high-quality learning resources, including subject guides, APA referencing guidance, and online support materials that enhance teaching, learning, and research Promote and connect users with library services and resources by building strong relationships with students, academic staff, and external partners, and representing NMIT in relevant professional networks and sector collaborations Contribute to the effective operation and continuous improvement of Library services, including interlibrary loans, distance services, collection support, and day-to-day library activities To be successful in this role you will need: In-depth knowledge of APA 7 referencing standards, citation managers (e.g., Zotero), and academic integrity principles Ability to collaborate effectively in sector networks, regional consortia chats, and professional bodies (e.g., LIANZA ) An understanding of the demands of a tertiary learning environment, and the unique experiences Māori, Pasifika, Disabled and International ākonga encounter Ability to evaluate, instruct on, and integrate generative AI tools and digital research platforms ethically into research workflows Recent experience working in a tertiary library in an information and learning, or related role Competitive remuneration Generous leave provisions+ additional professional development leave.
