About the role | Mō te tūnga As a Senior Analyst-Researchand Evaluationin ourCommunity Insightsteam,you willdevelop and implement workto better measure and evidence the impact of MSD’s programmes delivered by community service providers.You will contribute tomu improvedmonitoringof outcomesand support evidence-based policy design, includingopportunitiesfromStats NZ’s Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI). Working closely with colleagues across the Ministry, you will build strong relationships to supporta focus onevidence-baseddecision-making. As a senior member ofateam of mixed methods specialists , you will provide guidance and mentoring toanalysts, supporting theirdevelopmentand helping build research and evaluation capability across the Ministry.This is a fixed term role to cover a period of parental leave. To be successful in this role, you will bring: A relevant tertiary qualification in Economics, Social Sciences, Psychology, Statistics, or a related discipline, along with experience in research, evaluation and analytical methodologies. Strong quantitative and technical skills, including exposure to SQL, Power BI, R or SAS. Experience working with administrative data, operational reporting systems or other complex datasets, with the ability to identify trends, investigate issues and draw sound conclusions. The ability to think strategically and translate complex information into clear recommendations to change and improve processes. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate and concise reports, briefings and other written outputs for a range of audiences. Experience leading pieces of work, managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality outputs within agreed timeframes. The ability to mentor and support less experienced analysts, share technical knowledge and contribute to building capability across the team. Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships and work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Familiarity with kaupapa Māori research methods and the ability to incorporate a te Ao Māori perspective in research. Knowledge of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
