Lead the Ministry's specialist analytical and data capability supporting monitoring across the health system. Permanent | Wellington based Position | 4.8 weeks annual leave | Midpoint of $167,029 dependent on your professional skills and experience Ko tōu ake mahi - What you’ll do We're building a modern monitoring function that provides Ministers with independent insight and assurance on the organisations responsible for delivering critical health services to New Zealanders. This is a high-impact leadership role at the centre of the Ministry's monitoring function. As Manager, Monitoring Analytics, you will lead the Ministry's specialist analytical and data capability, providing high-quality insights that help us get better performance and better value from New Zealand’s health system. You'll work across a broad range of monitoring activities, helping the Ministry identify emerging risks and opportunities, strengthen decision-making, and support a more proactive, risk-based approach to monitoring. You will Lead and develop the Monitoring Analytics team as the Ministry's specialist analytical and data capability, setting clear expectations for quality, timeliness and impact. Oversee regular and ad hoc performance reporting, ensuring robust analysis supports identification of emerging trends, risks and areas requiring attention. Provide high-quality performance intelligence that enables monitoring teams and senior leaders to make informed decisions and take a proactive approach to emerging issues. Work collaboratively across the Monitoring and Appointments Unit, Health NZ Monitoring, in particular the Service Performance Monitoring team and other teams to support a joined-up view of system performance. Drive continuous improvement in analytical methods, reporting approaches, data quality and insight presentation to maximise value for decision-makers. Lead people and capability development by building a high-performing team, strengthening analytical capability and contributing to the Ministry's broader monitoring maturity. Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you’ll bring Extensive experience leading analytics, performance reporting or data-driven insight functions within a complex public sector, health or regulatory environment. Expert practitioner in performance analytics, data interpretation and insight generation, with the ability to distinguish meaningful signals from noise and translate complex information into clear, actionable insights. Proven experience providing high-quality advice to senior leaders, governance groups or Ministers on complex and sensitive issues. Strong strategic thinking, analytical judgement and problem-solving capability, including the ability to identify emerging risks, opportunities and trends. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and organisational boundaries.
