Christchurch, CAN, NZ Full Time
Reference: 9cb62fa5e5cb877f

Job Description

Caliber Design is an engineering consultancy. We support clients across multiple industries, such as aerospace, medical, food processing, marine and manufacturing. Our business model is to embed engineers on secondment within clients’ teams to help them scale and deliver their projects. We believe high-value manufacturing is what will grow New Zealand's economy, and we have built long-standing relationships with more than 300 clients in this space. Our purpose is to enable these companies to punch above their weight on the world stage, and our vision is to become the world’s most versatile and sought-after engineering team. We are growing 20 to 30% a year, with new service lines (we launched an automation and controls division this year), new industries, and clients beyond New Zealand. We have a very motivated management team, excited about the growth potential over the next five to ten years, and that is why we need this role. The Role You will report to the CEO and work hand in hand with our Commercial Manager, owning marketing end to end, from strategy through to delivery. Success in this role means warm leads flowing into both our sales and recruitment pipelines, clients who genuinely understand Caliber's business model and why it might work in their context, and engineers who already know why they would want to join. Champion the customer. There is a reason 80% of our work is repeat business. We want someone passionate about talking to clients, building a deep understanding of what makes them tick, and then articulating it clearly and consistently through our brand and campaigns. Drive growth into new markets. We have a strong, structured sales team and process. You will work with them to identify quarterly focus areas, then build campaigns that support them, driving growth into new markets while keeping our existing clients engaged. The two-way partnership with the sales team is a big part of this role. Grow the ecosystem and drive collaboration. We know who our customers are, and we want to engage them with campaigns and events that add real value. You will champion these, get amongst the community, and back it all up with value added content like our Kiwi Innovation newsletter and podcasts. Attract world‑class engineers. Recruitment marketing matters as much as client marketing, and much of it is international. New Zealand needs more great engineers, and rather than poach from a small local pool we recruit from around the world and grow it. Your job is to make Caliber the company that the world's best engineers want to join. About You You are an ambitious, strategic marketer ready to take the lead. Maybe you have been working as part of a bigger marketing team, or running marketing in a smaller firm, and you want a growth story to sink your teeth into. You are comfortable operating at a bird's-eye strategic level, and just as happy getting into the weeds on delivery. You cut through the noise and put your energy where it makes the most difference. We run a tight ship at Caliber, and we want someone who understands what drives commercial value so we invest in the right areas and can see the outcomes. You are pragmatic about AI. You are already using it to work faster and smarter, and you are curious about what's next. You have got good taste in design and brand, and the judgement to keep things sharp and simple. You are a team player who loves to learn. Our culture is a big part of who we are, with team lunches, pub meetings, and learning and development events, and we would want you right in the middle of it. Why it matters This role is tied directly to our purpose. The companies we serve are the ones growing New Zealand: exporters, innovators, manufacturers competing globally from a small country at the bottom of the world. Every client we help win and every engineer we help hire adds to that. If you want your marketing to mean something, this is a good place to do it. The details This is a permanent role, ideally based in Christchurch, though Auckland could work for the right person. We are open to either full-time or part-time arrangements and work flexibly - particularly to accommodate commitments such as school drop-offs and pick-ups. You will also have the freedom to manage your own balance between office and work-from-home days. On top of your salary, you will receive medical, life, and total and permanent disability insurance after six months. #J-18808-Ljbffr
