As a Systems Specialist, you'll join a team responsible for maintaining and improving critical platform services across Windows and Linux environments. About the Team You'll be joining the Digital Workplace Platform team within ASB's Digital & Engineering Practice. The team is responsible for the platforms, services and tooling that enable ASB people and technology teams to work effectively every day. The team focuses on maintaining secure, reliable and resilient technology services while continuously improving how those services are managed and supported. Working across modern infrastructure, platform tooling and operational technologies, you'll help ensure critical services remain available while contributing to improvements that reduce risk, increase efficiency and support future growth. About the Role This role focuses on supporting and enhancing platform services across Windows and Linux environments, with a particular focus on patching, operational reliability and continuous improvement. You'll help ensure critical services remain secure, stable and available while identifying opportunities to improve processes, simplify operations and increase automation where it adds value. You'll work across a mix of platform operations, technical problem solving, service improvement initiatives and technology maintenance activities, contributing to both day‑to‑day service delivery and longer‑term platform enhancements. Key Responsibilities Support and maintain Windows Server and Linux environments Manage and improve platform patching activities to ensure services remain secure and resilient Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues Contribute to service reliability, availability and performance Use automation and scripting to simplify manual processes and improve efficiency Assist with testing and validation activities to ensure platform changes are successfully implemented Support platform tooling and operational processes across the Digital Workplace Platform environment Collaborate with engineers, product teams and technology stakeholders to deliver service improvements Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement Share knowledge and contribute to a culture of learning and collaboration across the team About You You're an experienced infrastructure or systems engineer who enjoys working close to the technology. You take pride in delivering reliable services, solving technical challenges and finding smarter ways to get things done. You're comfortable working across Windows and Linux environments and bring a practical, hands‑on approach to platform operations. You'll thrive in this role if you're naturally curious, enjoy learning new technologies, and are excited by opportunities to improve the way services are delivered. You'll be someone who balances operational responsibility with a continuous improvement mindset and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. Key Skills & Experience Must Have Strong experience administering and supporting Windows Server environments Experience with Ansible and infrastructure automation tools Experience with Octopus Deploy or similar deployment and release management platforms Scripting capability using PowerShell or similar technologies Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills Experience supporting technology services within a complex enterprise environment Understanding of operational risk, service reliability and platform support practices Nice to Have Experience with GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES) Exposure to container technologies Experience with infrastructure testing, validation or verification activities Knowledge of modern platform engineering or DevOps practices Interest in AI and emerging engineering technologies Experience contributing to platform modernisation or automation initiatives Working for ASB At ASB, we want our people to thrive both professionally and personally.
