Building Control Officer

Do you have an eye for detail and a passion for ensuring buildings are safe, compliant and built to last? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Building Control Officer to join our Building Control Team to ensure building work in the Clutha District meets legislative requirements. In this role, you will: Process building consent applications, perform inspections and issue Code Compliance Certificates. Support the public and local community in their compliance with legislation, Council bylaws and the NZ Building Code. Review and assess non-compliant building work. Assist and liaise with customer concerns. Build great relationships across Council, community stakeholders and building professionals. What we’re are looking for: Proven experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of the building consent process Confidence in assessing building consent applications and reviewing plans for compliance Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers and stakeholders Excellent attention to detail and committed to providing professional advice Make a real difference in your community where every day brings new projects, challenges and opportunities to apply your expertise.
