Paediatric Gastroenterologist | Fixed Term Join a collaborative Child Health team providing specialistpaediatric gastroenterology care across Canterbury, the West Coast and thewider South Island. Six-month opportunity to provide inpatient, outpatient andoutreach care while supporting multidisciplinary service delivery, teaching andclinical leadership. About the Role We are seeking a Paediatric Gastroenterologist to join ourChild Health Service at Christchurch Hospital on a six-month fixed-term basis,covering leave from 8 March 2027 to 7 September 2027. As part of the Paediatric Gastroenterology team, you willprovide specialist assessment and treatment for children and young people withgastroenterology disorders across inpatient and outpatient settings. You willlead inpatient rounds, supervise junior medical staff, provide outpatient andoutreach services, interpret and manage investigations, performgastrointestinal investigations, and work closely with the widermultidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, family-centred care. About the Team/Service/Location The Paediatric Gastroenterology service sits within ChildHealth at Christchurch Hospital and provides specialist care for children andyoung people across Canterbury and the West Coast, with support to the widerSouth Island where appropriate. You will work alongside paediatric medicalcolleagues and a broad multidisciplinary team that may include dietetics,psychiatry, psychology, physiotherapy, nursing, allied health and other medicalspecialties. The role also works closely with adult gastroenterologyservices, particularly around transition planning for adolescents with chronicgastroenterological conditions. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Registration, or eligibility for registration, as aspecialist medical practitioner with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Appropriate specialist paediatric qualifications andexperience in paediatric gastroenterology. Significant experience caring for children and young peoplewith gastroenterology disorders. A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectivelyacross multidisciplinary teams and with patients and whānau. Demonstrated commitment to clinical teaching, ongoingprofessional development, quality and safety, and clinical research.
