You will join the Proactive Animal Management team, which has a strong focus on community engagement and education, alongside intelligence‑led enforcement activities to enhance compliance with the Dog Control Act 1996. With support from a large and experienced team, you will deliver targeted, proactive initiatives across Tāmaki Makaurau, with a particular focus on high‑risk suburbs. This role may involve aggressive dog handling, de‑escalation techniques, public speaking, and participation in community engagement events. The role is an office-based position at Manukau and operates on a rolling 5‑week roster, which includes some weekend work. This is a fixed‑term full‑time opportunity. We are seeking a conscientious and community‑minded professional who is passionate about public safety and positive outcomes for whānau and communities. You will bring: Experience in public‑facing, compliance, enforcement, or community engagement roles Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder engagement skills Confidence in public speaking and group engagement Excellent customer service and conflict management skills A calm, empathetic approach to resolving challenging situations Cultural awareness and an understanding of local communities Confidence dealing with aggressive dogs is important; training will be provided. A current, full clean NewZealand driver’s licence is required.
