One year fixed-term/secondment full-time opportunity, based in Wellington.

Salary: $101,911 to $121,196 plus kiwisaver.

Tēnei tūranga: We have an opportunity for a Senior Business Advisor to work in the Office of the Deputy Secretary within MBIE's Building, Resources and Markets Group. Working within a small team, you will gain in-depth exposure to a wide range of range portfolios, work with stakeholders across the Group and organisation, and liaise with the Ministers' offices. You will work closely with senior leaders, Policy Directors, Finance Business Partners and corporate teams across MBIE, helping to coordinate key accountability processes and support high-quality decision making across the Group. Your core responsibilities will include leading government accountability and reporting processes, including key annual planning, reporting and assurance activities ensuring the BRM Group continues to produce high quality accountability products. You may also lead a range of other business management and organisational development activities for the Group, such as risk management, business continuity, business planning and business improvement projects. We are looking for a high performer with significant experience in a role where you were responsible for developing high quality reporting and accountability products following established processes. You will also bring strong relationship building skills, the ability to identify risk, and a focus on continuous improvement.

• Experience in the public sector in a business management, strategic, planning, reporting, and/or governance role.

• A strong understanding of the machinery of government processes that underpin the operations of the public sector, such as Cabinet and parliamentary processes, accountability, and the performance, reporting and financial management processes and requirements.

• Experience contributing to or leading business management processes such as risk management, business continuity, induction, contract management and/or managing business improvement projects.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience preparing briefings for senior leaders and ministers.
\n
• A flexible, proactive and adaptable approach with the ability to respond to changing needs quickly and easily.
\n
• Comfortable taking responsibility for planning and managing multiple processes simultaneously through to their conclusion.
\n
• Proven ability to work with people at all levels internally and externally, including excellent relationship building skills.

• Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
