Overview Pharmacy, Medical and Elder Services – Whangarei Hospital. Permanent full‑time position, working 40 hours per week. About the Role As a Dispensary Team Coordinator you will lead the day‑to‑day operations of our hospital dispensary service, ensuring patients, clinicians and wider health teams receive safe, timely and high‑quality pharmaceutical support. You will provide strong, positive leadership to a diverse team, fostering a supportive culture built on professionalism, collaboration and service excellence. With your expert knowledge of dispensary processes, medicines management and pharmacy systems, you will guide and mentor staff, support best‑practice care and maintain efficient workflows across inpatient and clinic services. In this role you will take ownership of resource allocation, performance monitoring and service development, helping to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the pharmacy team. The coordinator will oversee stock management, support education and training, contribute to key reporting and ensure adherence to protocols, legislation and Te Whatu Ora standards. This dynamic position blends leadership, operational coordination and hands‑on dispensary work; ideal for someone who is organised, proactive and passionate about delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care. About the Team / Service / Location Whangarei Hospital is a medium‑sized (approximately 260 beds) secondary hospital located in Whangarei (approximately 2hours north of Auckland). Our service is committed to providing excellent patient‑centred care and achieving equitable health outcomes through collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation. With a talented team of approximately 20 pharmacists, we provide clinical pharmacy services to inpatient areas across Medicine, Surgery, Older Peoples Health & Rehabilitation, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Children’s Health, Mental Health, Infectious Diseases & Antimicrobial Stewardship, Cancer, Blood services and Renal services. This role is based in Whangarei Hospital, working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, plus regular participation in our Saturday and statutory holiday roster. About you Registration with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand and holder of a current annual practising certificate OR be a Qualified Pharmacy Technician (minimum of Level 5) A high degree of IT literacy and proficiency with pharmacy systems At least five years experience in a pharmacy environment in NewZealand Proven experience with diverse teams and achieving goals Proven experience in communicating with and influencing diverse groups of people Candidates that have recent pharmacy experience in a senior role, or knowledge and experience in quality improvement, staff management, leadership or education are desired Inclusion and Diversity Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora embraces a workforce that is diverse and inclusive to better serve our community.
