Job Overview Support older people and whānau through mental health assessment, care, and improved community living. About the Role Join the Intake Team within Mental Health Services for Older People. Play a key role in supporting tangata whaiora and whānau through assessment, triage, crisis response, and care coordination. Focus on delivering mental health support that promotes independence, wellbeing, and safe community living for older people across the Bay of Plenty. About the Team MHSOP Community Team works with referrers, health partners, primary care, and community agencies to provide responsive, recovery‑focused mental health care for older people. The mandate emphasises compassion, collaboration and commitment to improved quality of life. Must‑Have Qualifications Registration with the Social Work Registration Board and a current Annual Practicing Certificate. Minimum of three years postgraduate experience within mental health services. Experience working with older persons mental health (preferred). Strong understanding of mental health conditions, dementia and delirium care. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, PPPR Act, and capacity assessment processes. Experience in triage, assessment, crisis response and care coordination. Excellent communication and relationship management skills with tangata whaiora, whānau and community agencies. Commitment to collaborative, culturally responsive and recovery‑focused practice. Location Tauranga, Bay of Plenty. Opening Timing Full‑time 1.0 FTE, Monday‑Friday.
