Job Description
Southern Land is looking for a senior civil engineer to join our Queenstown team. If you thrive on building client relationships, leading project strategy and technical delivery and you have a proven track record of managing land development projects from conception through to completion, we would love to talk! Your Key Responsibilities Commercial Management – Prepare proposals and tenders and oversee budgets and delivery programmes to ensure projects meet financial and time objectives. Project Management & Leadership – Lead and manage land development projects through all delivery phases (consenting, design, tendering, construction and titling) Technical Expertise – Lead the engineering design, make critical decisions based on sound engineering principles, whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant consent conditions, standards, codes, regulations and policies. Client and Stakeholder Engagement – Build and maintain strong relationships with our clients, council, contractors and other stakeholders. Mentoring and Development – Mentor and support junior staff in their professional development journey. Contract Administration – Prepare front end tender/contract documents, schedules of quantities, engineer’s estimates, and undertake the Engineer to Contract during construction. Site Inspections and Monitoring – Undertake site inspections and monitor construction works to ensure compliance with technical requirements and health & safety standards. Certifications and Titling - Manage s223 and s224(c) certification and titling processes, ensuring applications are accurate, complete, and fit for purpose. What You’ll Bring Qualifications – Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Experience – 8+ years in Civil Engineering with a focus on land development and expertise across project management, design, and construction. Chartership – CPEng or working towards. Business Acumen – A commercial understanding of the full land development project cycle, from feasibility through construction to titles. Project Delivery – Solid experience delivering land development projects, with the confidence to run projects and interact directly with clients. Technical Delivery – Strong technical knowledge in earthworks, three waters and roading design. Software - Proficient in 12d or Civil 3D design software. Being able to use hydraulic analysis tools such as HEC-RAS HEC-HMS, and EPANET would advantageous. General - Organised, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
