Job Description

As our Programme and Asset Engineer, you’ll help shape and deliver maintenance, renewals and asset improvement programmes across the Manawatū IDC network. You’ll bring together engineering judgement, asset management thinking and practical planning to help us deliver good work that’s safe, reliable and built to last. This is a role with plenty of variety. You’ll spend time in the office and out in the field, working alongside crews, supervisors, clients and stakeholders to turn asset data and network needs into practical programmes of work. You’ll be trusted to spot risks early, solve problems and help drive better outcomes for the network and the communities that rely on it. Support the planning, scheduling and coordination of maintenance, renewal and minor capital works programmes. Analyse asset condition, defect and performance data to help prioritise works and improve network outcomes. Carry out asset inspections, engineering reviews and technical assessments to support sound decision-making. Work closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors to keep programmes practical, achievable and on track. Contribute to reporting, budgeting, forecasting and continuous improvement across programme delivery and asset performance. A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Asset Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or a related field. Experience in programme planning, asset management, maintenance engineering or civil infrastructure delivery. A solid understanding of asset lifecycle planning, condition assessment and renewal decision-making. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work well with both field teams and clients. A current Class 1 driver licence and a genuine commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement. At Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and grow with us. You’ll have access to: Medical insurance after the eligibility period. Life insurance from day one. KiwiSaver employer contributions after service milestones, up to 7%. Parental leave top up payment with additional return to work support. Ongoing training and development, with clear career growth and progression opportunities. Great discounts at a wide range of retailers. At Fulton Hogan, Good Work is about more than what we deliver. It’s how we show up, how we treat each other and how we keep moving forward together. We’re flat, friendly and low ego. Titles matter less than ideas, and the best ideas can come from anywhere. We take the work seriously, not ourselves. That means a relaxed, down-to-earth team culture day to day, and high standards when it counts especially around safety, quality and delivery. If you want to do meaningful work with people who back each other, challenge the status quo and take pride in getting the job done well, you’ll fit right in.
