Role Description The Duty Manager is responsible for overseeing daily hotel operations to ensure a seamless, high-quality guest experience throughout each shift. This full-time, on-site role, based in Auckland, includes managing front office activities, coordinating with housekeeping and food and beverage teams, and promptly resolving guest requests and issues. The Duty Manager monitors room allocations, arrivals, and departures, supports staff on the floor, and maintains standards for service delivery, presentation, and safety. The role also involves handling cash and payment processes, managing operational reports, and escalating any maintenance or security concerns as required. The Duty Manager acts as a key point of contact for guests and team members, helping uphold The Hotel Britomart’s brand, sustainability values, and service culture. Qualifications Experience in hotel operations and front office management, including supervising shifts and coordinating service teams. Strong customer service and guest relations skills, with the ability to handle complaints, special requests, and VIP stays professionally. Solid communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments. Competence in using hotel property management systems, reservation platforms, and basic office software. Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks. Knowledge of health, safety, and security procedures within a hospitality environment. Previous experience in a luxury or boutique hotel setting is highly beneficial. Relevant hospitality or hotel management qualification, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
