In-House Legal Counsel

INTEC Energy Solutions is a global EPC and O&M provider delivering utility-scale solar, battery energy storage and high-voltage infrastructure projects across more than 16 countries. As our Australian and New Zealand operations continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced In-House Legal Counsel to join our team in Christchurch. This is a commercially focused role supporting major renewable energy projects from tender and contract award through construction, commissioning and operations. You will work closely with our Commercial, Project, Engineering, Procurement and Construction teams, providing practical legal advice that enables the business to manage risk, negotiate effectively and deliver projects successfully. The opportunity Reporting to the Commercial Contracts Director, you will take ownership of a broad range of legal matters across INTEC's EPC and O&M operations, with a particular focus on major projects, construction, energy and commercial contracts. You will be trusted to operate with a high degree of independence, representing INTEC in complex negotiations and providing clear, commercially practical advice to senior stakeholders. Your Responsibilities Will Include Advise on project risk and delivery, supporting tenders, negotiations, construction, commissioning and operational phases. Manage claims and disputes, including contractual interpretation, variations, delay, disruption and dispute resolution. Provide regulatory and corporate legal advice across energy, construction, H&S, environmental and commercial matters. Partner with senior stakeholders and external counsel, providing practical advice and representing INTEC in key negotiations and legal matters. What we\'re looking for We are seeking a commercially minded lawyer who understands that effective in-house legal support is about enabling the business while protecting its interests. You Will Ideally Bring NZ-qualified lawyer with 8+ years' post-qualification experience, ideally in-house or major projects. Strong experience across energy, infrastructure or construction project environments. Proven contract negotiation experience within comparable industries across both supply and subcontract agreements. Strong commercial judgement with the ability to identify, manage and mitigate project risk. Renewable energy experience, particularly utility-scale solar, BESS or grid connection, highly desirable Why INTEC?
