Activities Coordinator | Permanent Full Time 32 Hours | 4 On 2 Off Roster | Porirua, Wellington If you're an experienced Activities Coordinator looking for more ownership, this is an opportunity to lead a team of 4 Activity Assistants and shape meaningful programmes across a large and diverse aged care environment. Based at Bupa Whitby Care Home in Porirua, you'll coordinate activities for residents across Rest Home, Hospital, Dementia, and Specialist Dementia/Psychogeriatric care within a 101-bed care home. From walking groups and gardening projects to social events and personalised activities, you'll have the scope to create programmes that genuinely improve residents' wellbeing and connection. Located near the Pauatahanui Inlet, the care home's landscaped gardens and outdoor spaces provide excellent opportunities for engaging outdoor activities. You'll also help support a more connected care experience through Bupa's Blua app, helping residents, whānau, and care teams stay connected through shared wellbeing and activity updates. This role suits someone confident leading people, organising programmes, and making a positive impact every day. Hours & Roster Details Employment Type:Permanent Full Time Hours:Average 32 hours per week Shift Time: Morning Shifts, 9:30am to 5:00pm, MUST be able to work across the rostered weekends Roster Pattern: 4 shifts on, 2 shifts off (6-weekly roster across Monday - Sunday) Duties and Responsibilities Lead and support a team of activities assistants, ensuring activities are well-coordinated, engaging, and aligned with residents’ needs. Manage activity plans for residents across this 101-bed care home, with rest home, hospital, dementia and psychogeriatric levels of care. Plan, develop, and lead individualised activity plans for each resident based on the activity assessment outcome, their interests, and preferences. Ensure our valuable residents are treated with full respect, dignity, and cultural sensitivity. Maintain personal and professional development - we have on-site managers who always encourage our staff to up-skill! Skills and Qualification To be successful in this role, you will enjoy a variety of work and have prior experience in this field, along with an interest in and understanding of the elderly and their needs. You’ll have a NZQA (or equivalent) Diversional Therapy (level 4) Certificate (or working towards a DT qualification) A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar healthcare setting is preferable. Have a creative flair to contribute towards a full and varied activities programme and help look after our residents while creating a caring atmosphere. You are a caring, team player, vibrant, and energetic, with an active interest in organising activities for multiple levels of function and ability. Have strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be required to drive the van for outings so a clean, full driver’s license is essential. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
