About the Role An exciting opportunity has become available for a Registered Nurse to join our Operating Theatre team at Palmerston North Hospital on a permanent 0.8 FTE basis. As a Theatre Registered Nurse, you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality perioperative nursing care across elective and acute surgical services. You will demonstrate safe and effective practice in both scrub and circulating roles, ensuring patient safety and excellence in surgical care throughout the perioperative journey. This role offers the opportunity to work within a busy theatre environment, supporting a wide range of specialty procedures while maintaining best practice standards in infection prevention, sterile technique, patient positioning, and surgical safety. About you Current New Zealand Nursing Council registration and Annual Practising Certificate Strong communication and interpersonal skills The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, cultural safety, and equitable health outcomes Sound clinical judgement and a patient-centred approach to care Previous perioperative or theatre experience would be advantageous, although applicants with a strong willingness to learn are encouraged to apply About the Team/Service The Operating Theatre service at Palmerston North Hospital supports a broad range of surgical specialties and provides care for both elective and acute patients. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay.
