About the Role Salary: As per APEX Sonographer MECA This is a rare opportunity for an experienced vascular sonographer to step into a role within CC Radiology. As a Specialist Vascular Sonographer you act as the primary responsible practitioner for the vascular ultrasound examinations you perform - working within an accredited scope of practice, with radiologist support always available for complex or uncertain cases. Your day spans vascular surveillance (AAA, EVAR and graft surveillance), arterial and venous insufficiency studies, fistula ultrasound and vein mapping, across Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals, and providing some ad hoc support at Hutt Hospital. You will work autonomously within scope, elevate promptly when there is clinical uncertainty, and communicate urgent findings without delay to the right clinical team. About the Team/Service Location Radiology Services provide a wide range of diagnostic and interventional imaging for Capital, Coast & Hutt district and adjacent regions - including Angiography, CT, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and General Radiography - supporting tertiary imaging for the lower North Island and upper South Island. The multidisciplinary team includes Radiologists, Nurses, Administration Support Staff, MRTs and Sonographers, and is a training institution for Radiology Registrars, MRTs and Sonographers. About you To succeed in this role you will have: MRTB registration in the general sonography scope of practice and depending on your qualification and experience may be able to practice in the full scope or could have a restriction to practice in vascular only. More than two years' post-graduate experience across vascular surveillance, arterial, venous insufficiency, fistula and vein mapping ultrasound, with the ability to demonstrate satisfactory audit outcomes Confidence working autonomously as the primary responsible practitioner, recognising the limits of the accredited scope and escalating clinical uncertainty promptly to the supervising radiologist A commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, professional indemnity/public liability/product liability cover, and a satisfactory Children's Act 2014 safety check Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
