Sampling & Field Technician

We have two vacancies within our Laboratory and Sampling team, for motivated individuals who bring a science background, and are looking to gain further experience in a sampling and field role. Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role In these roles, you will be responsible for collecting samples and field measurements, and support laboratory operations, as part of our regional water monitoring programme. Responsibilities will include: Sample collection at regional water quality monitoring sites across the Bay of Plenty to national and ISO standards and procedures Delivery of the data collection and monitoring program schedules for regional state of the environment monitoring Participation in the summer bathing water program with the availability to provide Christmas holiday cover Sample collection of customer drinking water Adherence to IANZ accredited sampling procedures and quality systems Organisation and provision of bottles, maintenance of field equipment and measuring devices for the laboratory and key customers Following standard operating procedures and health and safety guidelines Completion of job requests through council databases Data entry and administration Client service delivery Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience We are looking for individuals who hold the following: Level 6 Diploma or equivalent in a science related discipline A reasonable level of physical fitness Current driver's licence and sound driving skills (full licence preferred) Strong communication and interpersonal skills and great team ethic Ko wai mātou | Who we are Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council is responsible for land, air and water as well as public transport and economic development.
