Resource Consents Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced planning professional to step into a leadership role within a high-performing resource consents team. This position combines technical planning expertise, stakeholder engagement, and people leadership. You will oversee the coordination of planning enquiries and consent-related activities while providing guidance and mentoring to planning professionals delivering services to the public, developers, consultants, and community stakeholders. About the Role Lead and coordinate daily planning advisory services. Provide mentoring, guidance, and technical support to planners. Respond to complex planning enquiries from applicants, consultants, and the public. Facilitate and attend pre-application meetings. Review development proposals and provide planning advice. Process a variety of land use and subdivision consent applications. Contribute to planning policy feedback, plan reviews, and process improvements. Work collaboratively with engineers, building professionals, environmental specialists, customer service teams, and external stakeholders. Ensure statutory obligations and service standards are consistently achieved. About You A qualification in Planning, Resource Management, Surveying, or a related discipline. Approximately 5+ years' experience in resource consenting, statutory planning, or development assessment. Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying the Resource Management Act and associated planning frameworks. Experience providing technical guidance, mentoring, or informal leadership to planning professionals. Strong customer relationship and stakeholder engagement skills. Excellent written communication and report-writing ability. Sound judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to balance competing priorities. A current unrestricted driver's licence.
