About the Role The Community Mental Health and Addictions Services is seeking a registered health professional with leadership experience to be part of our team delivering high quality responsive services for the rural Community Mental Health and Addiction Service (CMHAS). This is a Full-Time position and the successful applicant will support the Clinical Manager to encourage an environment where staff are engaged and performing at their potential to provide quality evidence-based outcomes for the people who access the Community Mental Health and Addiction Services. To be successful in this position you will make effective, timely decisions within a collaborative model and show an ability to lead others. You will be familiar with implementing quality improvement and change that is based on best available evidence. About the Team/Service/Location The Community Mental Health and Addiction Services at Whanganui Hospital in New Zealand provide comprehensive support for adults experiencing severe mental health conditions and substance use issues. Our multidisciplinary team provides holistic, culturally responsive care across the Whanganui region, including the Rangitīkei, Taihape, and Waimarino. You’ll work alongside experienced clinicians to deliver assessment, treatment, and recovery-focused support in both clinical and community settings. About you This position requires you to have several essential skills and knowledge requirements beyond the normal relevant tertiary qualification, NZ registration with a professional body and current Annual Practicing Certificate. Requirements for this position are: The ability to demonstrate high levels of clinical knowledge in mental health disorders, psychiatric and addiction medications, and the management of risk. Practice based therapeutic modes of intervention in a person-centred, family-friendly, recovery model. Three years minimum experience working with case load management, identifying co-existing problems and delivering clinical and psychosocial case in a variety of community settings and proven practical experience as a registered health professional in mental health and addiction clinical settings, adult addiction and co-existing problems in mental health is preferred. High levels of communication, customer relations and managing diversity skills, empathy and bi-cultural sensitivity. Be a duly authorised officer or willing to complete the training. Be a provider of educational and community information that is supportive of the needs to the service users/tangata whaiora and their family/whanau. Competent computer skills in Microsoft Word and ability to learn computer software packages quickly. A police clearance and current clean driver's licence are also required.
