Job Description

Responsibilities Build and maintain strong relationships with iwi, community groups, volunteers, businesses, councils, and conservation partners Support and coordinate community-led conservation projects and initiatives Identify opportunities to grow conservation through partnerships and collaboration Provide administrative, liaison, and advocacy support to conservation projects Engage with local communities to promote conservation and encourage participation Monitor commercial and private activity on public conservation land Maintain accurate and up-to-date database information Provide high-quality input into Resource Management Act planning processes Provide field support for statutory land management functions Requirements Passion for conservation Highly organised with excellent communication and relationship-building skills Proactive thinker able to prioritise work and make sound decisions Experience managing multiple workstreams and competing priorities Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders Full New Zealand driver licence Comfortable leaving the office to engage with stakeholders, attend meetings, and undertake site visits Desirable: knowledge of the Central Otago area Desirable: experience working with iwi, community groups, local authorities, businesses, or conservation organisations Desirable: experience coordinating community projects, partnerships, or volunteer programmes Desirable: understanding of statutory or regulatory processes, including Resource Management Act processes and public conservation land management Must hold a valid New Zealand work visa covering the duration of employment Core Competencies Demonstrates strong relationship-building and communication skills to engage with iwi, community groups, and stakeholders while coordinating conservation projects. Proficient in managing multiple workstreams and understanding statutory processes related to conservation and resource management.
