The Opportunity Reporting directly to the CEO and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll lead our national Business Development team and play a key role in shaping the future direction of our sales function. Your primary focus will be coaching and developing a team of Business Development Managers to achieve exceptional performance. You’ll spend significant time in the field, working alongside your team, providing practical coaching, supporting customer engagements and helping individuals continually improve their skills, confidence and results. You’ll also provide strategic leadership to our outbound lead generation function through its Team Leader, ensuring strong alignment between lead generation activity and business development outcomes. Working closely with our Marketing team, you’ll maximise campaign effectiveness, identify new opportunities and ensure the sales function is well positioned for continued growth. Based in either Auckland or Christchurch, the role will involve regular travel throughout New Zealand. What You’ll Be Doing Lead, inspire, coach and develop a high-performing national team of Business Development Managers. Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and professional growth. Spend regular time in the field coaching your team through prospecting, customer meetings, presentations, negotiations and closing opportunities. Develop individual capability through structured coaching, mentoring, one-on-one development and performance feedback. Lead the execution of the national sales strategy to deliver sustainable growth. Conduct regular pipeline reviews, sales forecasting and opportunity planning. Champion Salesforce as the source of truth, ensuring excellent CRM discipline, forecasting accuracy and meaningful performance reporting. Work closely with the Marketing team to maximise lead generation, campaign performance and market opportunities. Provide strategic leadership to the outbound lead generation function through its Team Leader. Identify emerging market opportunities and commercial growth initiatives. Contribute to the strategic direction of the business as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team. About You You’re an experienced sales leader who genuinely enjoys helping others succeed. You know that high-performing sales teams aren’t created by pressure alone—they’re built through trust, coaching, accountability and consistent leadership. You’ll bring: A proven track record of leading and coaching successful B2B sales teams. A genuine passion for developing people and helping them achieve their full potential. Strong commercial acumen and a history of delivering sustainable sales growth. Exceptional coaching, mentoring and leadership skills. Outstanding communication, influencing and relationship-building ability. A hands‑on leadership style and a willingness to spend time alongside your team in the field. Experience using CRM systems to drive accountability and performance (Salesforce experience will be highly regarded). Strategic thinking combined with a practical, action‑oriented approach. High levels of integrity, resilience and personal accountability. Experience within business services, franchising or a multi‑site environment will be advantageous but is not essential. The process will include an initial video interview, followed by two face‑to‑face interviews for candidates progressing through the selection process. Shortlisted candidates will also complete Sales Insights and DISC behavioural assessments to provide further insight into sales capability and leadership style. Our preferred candidate will then progress through reference and relevant pre-employment checks before an offer is made.
