Financial Accountant - 1yr Fixed Term

Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Prepare monthly financial reports, Board packs, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow reporting, journals, and supporting working papers. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by preparing and reviewing journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations. Ensure compliance with the Public Finance Act, Crown Entities Act, PBE accounting standards, GST and FBT obligations, Treasury reporting requirements, insurance renewals, and external audit requirements. Prepare the annual Statement of Performance Expectations (SPE) and support multi-period forecasting (4+8, 6+6, and 8+4), including balance sheet and cash flow forecasts. Analyse financial performance, balance sheet movements, and cash flow providing meaningful variance analysis and insights. Review and enhance finance processes, documentation, and internal controls to improve efficiency and reduce risk. Build effective relationships with stakeholders across the business and collaborate with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process. Requirements 3–5 years' experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and public sector accounting standards (PBE). Strong experience managing month-end and year-end close processes, including financial reporting and balance sheet reconciliations. Proven capability in budgeting, forecasting, multi-period planning (4+8, 6+6, and 8+4), and detailed variance analysis. A process-driven mindset with experience in process documentation, internal controls, and continuous improvement. High technical accuracy, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear and practical way. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively with the Finance team and stakeholders across the organisation.
