The Role An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Clinical Coder to join a well-established Clinical Coding team based in Central Wellington. This role is responsible for the accurate abstraction, interpretation, and assignment of diseases and procedures into alphanumeric codes using prescribed clinical classification systems and coding standards. Your work will contribute to national data collections, reporting requirements, service planning, and improved healthcare delivery outcomes. Working closely with clinical teams, health information professionals, and internal stakeholders, you will ensure coding accuracy, maintain productivity targets, participate in audit and education programmes, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. This is a full-time, permanent position working onsite Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Role Requirements To be successful in this position you will bring: HIMAA or equivalent qualification in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology Practical clinical coding experience using ICD-10-AM, ideally 12th Edition Excellent written and verbal English communication skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment Excellent organisational and time management skills A proactive approach and willingness to continuously learn and develop Ideally, You Will Also Have HIMAA or equivalent clinical coding qualification, preferably Intermediate level or above Experience working within a hospital or healthcare environment An understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equitable health outcomes What's in it for You?
