Are you looking for a hands-on role where you'll learn valuable skills, work with great people, and contribute to an industry that helps power New Zealand's economy?

About the role:

At LIC, we're looking for motivated people to join our Herd Testing team as Sample Processing Operators. No experience? No problem. This is an entry-level role with full training provided, so all you need is a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a great work ethic.

Based at our Herd Test Depot in Islington, Christchurch, you'll use specialised automated equipment to process milk samples collected from dairy farms around New Zealand. The work you do helps farmers make important decisions about their herds and supports one of New Zealand's largest and most important industries.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn new skills, work with technology, and be part of a supportive team during New Zealand's peak dairy season.

This is a seasonal position running until May 2027. Please note that during our peak season (September to mid-May), you'll work a rotating roster of two weeks on day shift, followed by two weeks on evening shift. Mandatory Saturday shifts are also required during this period.

You'll thrive in this role if you have:

  • A positive attitude and enjoy learning new things

  • Confidence using technology and following processes

  • Good communication skills

  • Reliability and strong time management

  • Great attention to detail

  • A team-first mindset

  • A reasonable level of fitness, as the role involves standing and lifting

  • Flexibility and a willingness to get stuck in where needed

Join a friendly team, build valuable workplace skills, and play your part in supporting an industry that helps power New Zealand's economy.

At LIC, we're shaping the future of dairy farming, and we'd love to have you on the team
