Make an impact Lead and shape a progressive hard materials technology department encompassing materials, design, engineering, fabrication and emerging technologies. Inspire students to think differently, solve problems and create. Our purpose-built facilities are anything but traditional, featuring CAD/CAM, 3D printing, CNC routing, laser cutting, specialist workshops, design studios and exhibition spaces. Students also benefit from access to expertise across engineering, architecture, design and development. About the role As Head of Department, you will provide strategic, educational and people leadership across the technology curriculum. You will build on an exceptionally capable department while bringing new ideas, energy and a willingness to challenge traditional thinking. We are looking for someone who: Has strong hard materials technology experience and a commitment to evidence-based pedagogy. Can teach across relevant secondary technology curriculum areas, ideally including NCEA and/or Cambridge. Brings genuine interest in emerging technologies, design thinking, engineering and innovation. Is an engaging and capable people leader who develops others and builds a positive team culture. Has outstanding communication skills, emotional intelligence and the ability to inspire students and staff. Is curious, open-minded and continually looking to improve. Can balance practical workshop leadership with strategic curriculum and departmental leadership. Demonstrates a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership.
