Early learning / kōhanga reo, Kaiako English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts WanaExcel is a family-operated ECE Hub where children aged 3 months to 6 years develop a true love for learning and grow the skills, knowledge, confidence, and independence that allow them to excel in their life-long journey. Kaiako are responsible for providing nurturing, high-quality early education that supports the holistic development of each tamaiti. They work collaboratively within their teams, guided by their Tuakana and Centre Leaders. All kaiako are committed to the current Teaching Council Professional Standards. Full pay parity is determined on evidence provided. Core responsibilities Create and maintain inclusive, engaging learning environments that promote the five strands of holistic growth. Build trusting, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau and the WanaExcel team. Teach and care intentionally, bringing Te Whāriki and WanaExcel’s curriculum to life. Act as Person Responsible, if designated (applies only to kaiako holding a current practising certificate and valid first aid qualification). Engage actively in reflective practice, professional growth opportunities, and contributing ideas and initiatives to strengthen teaching quality and learning outcomes. Collaborate with tuakana and colleagues to ensure cohesive planning, teaching and communication. Understand, implement and respect current WanaExcel policies and practices. Kaiako are expected to uphold the highest professional standards in all areas of practice. This includes: Maintaining professionalism in attitude, appearance, and communication. Demonstrating integrity, accountability, and respect for tamariki, whānau and co-workers at all times. Actively participating in Professional Growth Cycles, team and centre meetings. Embracing feedback (whether giving or receiving) as an opportunity for growth. Contributing to a positive, solution-focused, and collaborative team culture. Upholding the principle that to be treated as professionals, Kaiako must act as professionals.
