Drainage Foreperson | Civil Construction | Porirua $45 - $50 per hour + 8% Holiday Pay Tradestaff Wellington is seeking an experienced Drainage Foreperson to join a leading civil construction contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across Porirua and the wider Wellington region. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven drainage leader who enjoys mentoring crews, maintaining high safety standards, and delivering quality civil works. You’ll play a key role in leading drainage teams on a variety of projects while remaining hands-on and actively involved in day-to-day site operations. About the Role As Drainage Foreperson, you’ll work closely with Supervisors and Project Managers to coordinate daily activities, lead crews on-site, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys both managing people and working alongside their team to achieve great results. What You’ll Be Doing Leading drainage crews on civil construction projects Planning and coordinating daily site activities Supervising trenching, pipe laying, backfilling, and final connections Ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification Promoting and maintaining strong health and safety practices Completing site documentation and reporting requirements Mentoring and supporting less experienced team members Operating plant and assisting on the tools when requiredLiaising with Supervisors and Project Managers to keep projects on track What We’re Looking For Proven experience leading drainage or civil construction crews Strong background in drainage installation and civil works Experience supervising trenching and underground services projects Current WTR endorsements Class 2 Licence or higher preferred Experience operating civil construction plant and machinery Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and leadership abilities Ability to lead by example and foster a positive team culture Commitment to health, safety, and quality workmanship What You’ll Get $45 - $50 per hour depending on experience Weekly pay Full PPE provided Ongoing project work with consistent hours Opportunity to work with one of New Zealand’s leading civil contractors Support from the Tradestaff team throughout your assignment Career development opportunities within a respected infrastructure business Work on significant projects that help shape Wellington’s future To Be Successful You’ll Need Proven drainage foreperson or civil foreperson experience Current WTR endorsements Class 2 Licence preferred Strong understanding of trench safety and underground services Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test Reliable transport to and from work Strong commitment to workplace health and safety Legal right to work in New Zealand About the Client Our client is one of New Zealand’s leading civil construction companies, delivering major infrastructure projects across transport, water, earthworks, and urban development sectors.
