Job Description Mō te tūranga | About the role We are seeking a Touring Exhibitions Manager to join our team on a part-time basis and lead the development and delivery of Auckland Museum's successful touring exhibitions programme. This role is responsible for programming, scoping, scheduling, and coordinating the logistical delivery of touring exhibitions, including managing relationships with national and international partners. The position plays a key role in ensuring exhibitions are delivered to the highest standard and provide compelling experiences for audiences. Key responsibilities include: Developing and managing the Museum's touring exhibitions programme. Coordinating the planning, scheduling, contracting, and logistical delivery of touring exhibitions and associated museum loans. Building and maintaining relationships with local, national, and international exhibition partners and stakeholders. Ensuring exhibitions meet audience, operational, and organisational objectives. Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver successful exhibition outcomes. From time to time, the role may require domestic and/or international travel to support the delivery and management of touring exhibitions. Desired Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you will bring: Strong interpersonal, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills. Demonstrated experience delivering engaging and high-quality exhibition or cultural experiences for audiences. A well-developed network of relevant national and international industry contacts. Experience organising touring exhibitions within a museum, gallery, or similar cultural environment, including knowledge of contracts, packing, transport, display, installation, and museum loan requirements. A strong understanding of exhibition development, design principles, and visitor experience. A tertiary or postgraduate qualification in humanities, science, design, communication, education, museum studies, or a related discipline. At least five years' experience in project management, programme management, exhibition production, or a similar role, preferable within a museum or cultural organisation. The flexibility to undertake occasional domestic and international travel. Applications should outline relevant experience for each of these criteria.
