The opportunity – a newenterprise leadership role\n

As amember of the Grid Development LeadershipTeam,you’llworkenterprise-widetoset the strategic direction and framework for the newly established Investment Management team within Grid Development.You’llshapehow Transpower’s investments deliver agreed outcomes, benefits, and enduring value for New Zealand. Working collaboratively,you’llprovide:

  • Leadership and alignment: leading the function and influencing executives, governance forums, customers, regulators, stakeholders, and partners.
  • \n
  • Funding and investment advice: supporting major capital, listed project, and regulated funding proposals with evidence-based advice.
  • \n
  • Portfolio prioritisation and trade-offs: owning prioritisation frameworks, decision rights, and transparent trade-off decisions.
  • \n
  • Investment value and outcomes: ensuring base, customer, and major capital value chains deliver intended benefits.
  • \n

You’llbuild andleadyour team ofInvestment Value Managers andAsset GridInvestment advisory professionals,whoconvert customer, asset, and system needs into integrated investment decisions. This requiresthe ability tobalancevalue, cost, scope, quality, risk, customer outcomes, regulatory expectations, and delivery constraints.

\n

You’llalso play a key role in maturing the operating model, clarifying accountabilities and interfaces, and ensuring investment decisions are integrated across planning, delivery, commercial, customer, and system outcomes.

\n

We are interested in leaders who bring enterprise-level investment judgement,systems thinking,portfolio discipline, commercial insight, and the ability to influence complex decisions. Deep electricity sector experience is valuable, but not essential.

\n

Youwillbringleadership experience acrosscomplex investment,portfolio,infrastructure, asset, capital works, or value-streamenvironments, along withsound judgement in ambiguity, commercial acuity, and confidence interpreting financial and performance information. Delivery-oriented,you’llhavea track recordof influencingsenior stakeholders,leadingchange, andbuildinginclusive, high-performing teams.

In yourCVwe’llbe looking for evidenceof:\n

  • Executive or senior leadership accountability for significant investment, portfolio, infrastructure, asset, capital works, or value-streamfunctions.
  • \n
  • Leadership ofseniormanagers or specialist teams, including examples of building capability, improving performance, and strengthening accountability.
  • \n
  • Accountability for business planning, performance, resourcing, and budget management within acomplex function.
  • \n
  • Portfolioprioritisation, investment governance,risk and assurance,trade-offdecisions, benefit delivery, value realisation, and performance improvementacross complex portfolios.
  • \n
  • Commercial decision-making that balancesvalue, cost, risk, delivery constraints, customer outcomes, andlong-termobjectives.
  • \n
  • Highly effectivecommunication skills andtheability tobuild alignment withexecutives, governance forums, regulators, customers, delivery partners, or industry stakeholders. While not essential, pleasetellus if you have experience supporting major capital, listed project, or regulated funding proposals.
  • \n
\n

Exposureto electricity, regulated infrastructure, utilities, transport, or other asset-intensive environments would beadvantageousbut is not essential.
