Learning & Development Intern
ABOUT ROCKET LAB
Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems. We're opening access to space to improve life on Earth through our Electron rocket and Neutron launch vehicle programs, alongside our space systems business. From pioneering carbon composite rocket technology to delivering reliable and rapid launch services, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible in aerospace.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a motivated intern to join our Learning & Development team in Auckland. As a Learning & Development Intern, you will play a key role in creating On-The-Job (OTJ) training within Rocket Lab through the launch of recording OTJ training within our corporate training database (RL2) and subsequent reporting to managers. This reporting is essential for the effective development and deployment of staff across our rapidly growing organization.
During your internship, you will create OTJ courses based on team-based matrices across the organisation, working with subject matter experts to understand the key criteria for signing off competencies in all specialist fields, from propulsion engineers to avionics technicians.
This project offers you the opportunity to apply your software and analytical skills in a fast-growing environment and gain exposure to the space industry.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Weeks 1-8: Foundation Phase
- Complete onboarding on RL2 software and L&D processes
- Rename courses to pull through to reports effectively
- Create simple courses within the training database
- Assist with practical training sessions from an administration viewpoint
- Build relationships with subject matter experts across the organisation
Weeks 9 onwards: Development Phase
- Develop OTJ courses per team matrix with priority given to Neutron teams and those that intersect with Electron
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify and document key competencies
- Use analytical and influencing skills to ensure only the most important competency factors are included in each OTJ course
- Design intuitive and user-friendly course structures within RL2
- Support the implementation and rollout of new training courses
- Generate reports for managers to track staff development and competency completion
PROJECT GOALS
There are over 157 team-based matrices in development which results in over 1600 OTJ courses to develop. The key critical success factor will be your ability to use analytical and influencing skills to ensure only the most important competency factors are included in each OTJ course, creating a streamlined and effective training system.
