We are seeking an experienced veterinary nurse to join our growing Community Practice department as a Service Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys taking the lead, coordinating people and workflow, and ensuring each day runs efficiently while delivering an exceptional experience for our patients, clients, students, and team. Mo tenei turanga mahi | About the role Our Community Practice team works in a fast-paced and varied environment, collaborating with other departments and specialties across the hospital. This provides opportunities to broaden your knowledge, develop new skills, and continue learning across different areas of veterinary nursing. With our department experiencing exciting growth to support increasing numbers of veterinary students, we are looking for an experienced nurse to work alongside our current Coordinator to ensure the service runs smoothly and efficiently. You’ll develop your leadership and coordination skills while continuing to enjoy hands‑on nursing and patient care. You’ll play a key role in organising daily workflow, supporting the team, and creating calm and structure in a busy clinical environment. Community Practice operates Monday to Friday, during business hours, providing an excellent work‑life balance. You will also participate in an after‑hours on‑call roster, including weekends and public holidays, approximately once every 12 weeks. Mou | About you We’re looking for a confident and compassionate veterinary nurse who thrives in a busy environment, can effectively multitask and prioritise, and enjoys variety. No two days are the same! To be successful, you will: hold a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, Bachelor of Veterinary Technology, or equivalent qualification have at least two years' experience in general practice nursing demonstrate leadership skills or an interest in developing your leadership capability have experience with general anaesthesia and surgical nursing demonstrate empathy and understanding of the cultural, emotional, and physical needs of clients and patients bring a positive attitude, passion for patient care, and commitment to lifelong learning have a genuine interest in undergraduate education and supporting veterinary students be eligible to work in New Zealand. Most importantly, you’ll be a team player who takes pride in keeping things organised and is excited to develop your leadership skills while continuing to provide excellent hands‑on nursing care.
