Job Description
About The Opportunity Lead the day-to-day operation of a busy hydraulic workshop while remaining hands-on with technical work, repairs and fault finding. Strip, assess, repair, assemble and test hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders and associated components across a range of applications and equipment. Coordinate multiple jobs from assessment through to completion, managing priorities, parts availability, turnaround times and customer requirements. Provide technical guidance to workshop technicians and apprentices, allocating work and maintaining a high standard of workmanship across the team. Complete failure assessments, reporting and job documentation, with involvement in root-cause and failure analysis desirable. Play a key role in maintaining a safe, organised and efficient workshop, ensuring jobs are completed to a consistently high standard. WHAT YOU'LL BRING Trade-qualified background in hydraulics, fitting and turning, mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline, with strong hands-on hydraulic experience. Solid knowledge of both open and closed-loop hydraulic systems, with the ability to fault-find, diagnose issues and support technical repairs. Experience repairing and assessing hydraulic pumps, motors and components, ideally across a range of OEM products and applications. OEM training or formal manufacturer training would be highly regarded, particularly across major hydraulic equipment and component brands. Previous experience as a Workshop Foreman, Leading Hand or in a similar supervisory position is preferred, with the ability to lead from the tools. Strong planning, organisation and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple jobs and competing priorities without compromising quality or safety. WHAT'S ON OFFER A hands-on leadership opportunity where you can combine your technical hydraulic expertise with responsibility for a workshop team and job flow. The opportunity to work across a varied range of hydraulic equipment, components and applications, providing ongoing technical challenges and development. A role with genuine influence over workshop standards, processes, job scheduling and the development of the wider technical team. Access to ongoing technical development and OEM training opportunities where required. A supportive working environment where safety, quality and getting the job done right are prioritised. A long-term opportunity for an experienced hydraulic technician looking to step into, or continue developing within, a workshop leadership position.
