Job Description
Position Title: Academy of Sport Manager Location: Rotorua Team: Academy of Sport Position Type: Fixed Term (2 Years) Lead the establishment of the Academy of Sport and shape a new and exciting future for sport, recreation, and athlete development at Toi Ohomai. This role will build strategic partnerships, develop innovative programmes, and create opportunities that enhance ākonga success while strengthening connections with industry, iwi, community organisations, and the wider sporting sector. As part of this two-year fixed-term opportunity, you will design and embed the programmes, systems, partnerships, and operating frameworks required to establish a sustainable and industry-connected Academy of Sport that delivers long-term value for ākonga, stakeholders, and communities. Establish the Academy of Sport operating model, programmes, and services. Build and maintain strategic partnerships across sport, education, iwi, industry, and community sectors. Develop participation pathways that enhance learner engagement, achievement, and progression. Secure and manage funding, sponsorship, partnership, and commercial opportunities. Drive continuous improvement through performance monitoring and evaluation. Ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality programme and facility delivery. Contribute to Toi Ohomai strategic priorities through collaborative leadership. You bring: Experience in athlete development and high-performance sport environments. Commercial acumen and business development capability. Experience establishing and leading new programmes, services, or initiatives. Strong partnership and stakeholder engagement capability.
