Role Description This full-time, on-site Architectural Designer role is based in Lower Hutt. The Architectural Designer will contribute to concept development, schematic design, and detailed design across a range of project types, preparing drawings, models, and documentation that support project delivery. Day-to-day work includes producing construction drawings, coordinating with engineers and other consultants, assisting with planning applications, and supporting project managers in meeting design and regulatory requirements. The role involves regular collaboration with colleagues, participation in design reviews, site visits as required, and ensuring that designs align with Studio One's sustainability and community-focused values. Qualifications Strong foundation in Architecture and Architectural Design, including experience working on education, residential, community, or commercial projects. Proficiency in Construction Drawings and technical documentation, with the ability to translate design concepts into clear, buildable details. Competence in Drawing, sketching, and visual communication, using relevant digital tools and software (e.g., CAD/BIM platforms). Understanding of Urban Planning principles and how they inform site layout, community impact, and regulatory compliance. Relevant tertiary qualification in architecture or architectural technology. Knowledge of local building codes, standards, and consent processes in New Zealand. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
