Job Description

Description About the Company Take on a role with huge impact and visibility working for a well-established NZ business operating at a significant scale across field-based operations in the North Island. The business is known for its operational complexity, strong values, and a genuine commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement. This is an organisation where execution matters and where strong operational leaders have real impact. The Role Reporting directly to the Executive General Manager, the Business Delivery Manager exists to close the gap between strategic intent and operational reality. This is not a chief-of-staff role in name only. You will drive the delivery of Executive-sponsored priorities from end-to-end, work directly with leaders to resolve operational issues where performance is falling short, and strengthen follow-through so divisional commitments are met with clarity and accountability. The role operates with high autonomy across a broad remit spanning operations, finance, fleet, and support functions. If you are energised by turning direction into action and thrive in complex, fast-moving environments, this is a role worth serious consideration. Key Responsibilities Translate EGM priorities into clear plans, timelines, and accountabilities, and drive them through to completion Act as first-pass triage for incoming correspondence and requests, identifying what requires EGM decision versus delegation Lead EGM-sponsored projects end-to-end, including scoping, coordination across functions and regions, and delivery Identify operational issues impacting cost, productivity, or service and intervene directly to resolve them Produce high-quality executive outputs, including board papers, briefing documents, and ELT slide decks Coordinate data and information requests across the business for industry forums, annual assessments, and board reporting Support the design and structure of divisional leadership forums, including agendas, pre-reads, and action follow-up Maintain a consolidated view of what is in flight, what is at risk, and what requires executive intervention Key Skills & Experience Required Proven track record of delivering outcomes in complex, multi-stakeholder operational environments Strong commercial acumen with a clear understanding of cost, productivity, and service performance drivers Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives with confidence and without close supervision Exceptional written communication skills at executive level, including board papers and briefing documents Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with competing priorities Background in operations, commercial, or project delivery roles strongly preferred Experience in transport, logistics, waste, or field-based operations advantageous but not essential About You You are a delivery-focused operator who moves quickly from problem identification to action. You do not wait to be told what to do next, and you do not let complexity become an excuse for inaction. You are direct, commercially sharp, and skilled at translating ambiguity into clarity for those around you. You write well, you think clearly, and you have the resilience to push through obstacles and see things through. People trust you with the things that matter most because you always follow through. This opportunity combines operational, commercial, and strategic delivery and could suit someone coming from an operational, PMO, commercial, or company secretarial background. What’s In It For You This is a rare opportunity to operate at the intersection of strategy and execution in one of New Zealand’s most complex operational businesses. You will have direct access to the EGM and divisional leadership team, genuine authority to drive outcomes across a large and diverse organisation, and the scope to make your mark on how the business delivers against its priorities. For an experienced operator who wants to work at the highest level and looking to progress/develop their career further, without being confined to a single function, this is an outstanding platform. Benefits East Tamaki location High autonomy with direct EGM access and executive-level exposure Cross-functional influence across operations, finance, fleet, and people functions Elevate, develop, and progress your skills, experience, and career in a successful, progressive, and innovative NZ business #J-18808-Ljbffr
