Are you finishing school or currently studying a construction, environmental science, or property-related qualification? Maynard Marks is looking for two Trainee Asbestos Surveyors to join our Environmental Services team, with one position based in Auckland and one in Wellington. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a professional consulting career. You will gain practical, hands‑on experience working alongside experienced asbestos consultants while developing technical skills, industry knowledge, and internationally recognised qualifications. No previous asbestos experience is required. We are looking for people with the right attitude, a willingness to learn, and an interest in buildings, construction, and the built environment. As a Trainee Asbestos Surveyor, you will be supported by experienced team members as you learn how to: Assist with asbestos management, refurbishment, and demolition surveys. Collect building material samples for laboratory testing. Conduct site inspections and record survey data. Prepare reports and technical documentation. Support air monitoring and asbestos-related project work. Work safely and follow industry regulations and best practice. Build relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues. You’ll spend time both in the office and out on site, giving you exposure to a wide range of building types and projects across Aotearoa New Zealand. What we're looking for Candidates may be: A recent secondary school graduate looking to start a professional career. Studying towards a qualification in environmental science, construction, or property related discipline. Looking for an alternative to full‑time tertiary study and interested in learning while you work. To be successful, you’ll also have: A genuine interest in buildings, construction, and the built environment. Strong attention to detail and observational skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. A positive attitude and willingness to learn. The ability to follow procedures and work safely.
