Leading Hand - Sports Field Renovations

PERSOL is proud to be recruiting on behalf of Programmed Facility Management, one of New Zealand's leading providers of facility maintenance and asset management services. About The Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand to join our team, specializing in sports field renovations, turf construction, and high-level grounds maintenance. In this hands-on leadership role, you will work alongside and guide our field crew to deliver top-tier sports turf, oval maintenance, and renovation projects. You will oversee daily site operations in partnership with the foreman to ensure high-quality workmanship, operate specialized turf machinery and uphold strict site safety standards. Key Responsibilities Field Operations & Supervision: Lead and work alongside a crew undertaking sports field renovations. Machinery & Equipment Operation: Safely operate specialized renovation equipment (tractors, top dressers, aerators, verti drains and turf cutters). Site & Safety Management: Ensure all team members follow safety guidelines and maintain job safety analysis records. Quality Assurance: Maintain clear communication with project managers, clients and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification. Qualifications & Skills Required Experience: 2+ years of experience in turf management, commercial landscaping, civil earthworks or sports grounds maintenance (prior supervisory or leading hand experience preferred). Certifications: Certificate III in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture or equivalent (highly regarded advantageous) Valid Driver's License (Heavy Class 2 ) must have. Equipment Knowledge: Proven experience operating heavy turf machinery and tractors. Leadership & Work Ethic: Strong communication skills a positive attitude and the ability to motivate a field team under tight project schedules.
