In a world of cookie cutter experiences, here at EVT we believe in changing the game. It's why we all call ourselves Daymakers because each day is a chance to add the wow factor for our customers and continually grow in our own careers. QT Hotels & Resorts is EVT's premium lifestyle hotel brand, with locations in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Pioneers behind the philosophy of 'unexpected and unrequested', with every guest engagement presenting an opportunity to delight, and every QT property inspired by local influence with signature quirk. And our people? With personalities as diverse as each property, individuality is more than encouraged. EVT has an endless range of roles and career paths to explore across over 140 entertainment experiences like Event Cinemas and Moonlight Cinemas, 150 award-winning restaurants and bars, and 80+ hotels, including QT, Rydges, Atura, LyLo, Independent Collection and Australia's most loved year-round alpine resort, Thredbo. Our ventures include a ~$2.3B property portfolio and hotel management, just to name a few. Once you're in, there's no limits on where your career could take you. The Role Esther is QT Auckland's celebrated signature restaurant, selected in the MICHELIN Guide 2026, and we're looking for a Junior Sommelier and Floor Manager who is as passionate about people as they are about wine. This is a dual role for someone who thrives both in the cellar and on the floor, equally comfortable guiding a guest through a wine list as they are leading a service team through a busy Saturday night. You’ll work alongside the Restaurant Management team to evolve the wine program, drive beverage revenue and build a front-of-house team that knows its Pinot from its Picpoul. If you're ready to grow your sommelier career in one of Auckland's most exciting dining destinations, this is your seat at the table. Key Responsibilities Support the Restaurant Manager in maintaining and evolving a commercially relevant, guest-focused wine list across Esther and hotel outlets, managing ordering, stock levels and cellar records with precision. Drive wine sales through confident table-side recommendations, food and wine pairing suggestions and active guest engagement that consistently lifts spend per head. Lead the front-of-house team during rostered shifts, supervising service standards and stepping up as the senior presence on the floor in the absence of management. Design and deliver structured wine training programmes, regular tastings and product knowledge sessions that build team confidence and a genuine culture of wine knowledge across the floor. Identify and activate opportunities to grow wine revenue through featured wines, by-the-glass programs, staff incentives and seasonal promotions. Support beverage COGS management, monitor stock wastage and ordering efficiencies, and contribute to achieving beverage revenue and budgetary targets. What You'll Bring A genuine passion for wine with developing sommelier knowledge, ideally supported by formal wine study such as WSET Level 2 or above. (Essential) Previous experience in a premium restaurant or fine dining environment, with exposure to wine service and cellar management. (Essential) Confidence recommending and presenting wine to guests across a range of styles, price points and food pairings. (Essential) Leadership experience or a strong desire to step into a supervisory floor role, with the ability to motivate and develop a team. A commercial mindset with an understanding of beverage cost management and revenue targets. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays. A current LCQ/Manager's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one). How You Work Daymaker ethos, no one's too big for the small things. Growth mindset, learns, shares and levels up others. Owner's mindset, acts on data and feedback to drive continuous improvement. Hands-on and non-hierarchical, leads from the front. Perks from Day One As part of EVT, you unlock Elevate Perks from your first day. Parity for all levels, no ivory towers. 50% off dining and stays across EVT hotels, QT, Rydges, Atura, LyLo and more. $2 movie tickets + discounts on Gold Class, Moonlight Cinema and Candy Bar. Seasonal perks at Thredbo. Rapid career growth across our hotel & entertainment network. Paid parental leave; community & volunteering opportunities. #J-18808-Ljbffr
