Job Description
Description We have an opportunity for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Hawke's Bay workshop team. Working alongside a skilled team of mechanics, you'll be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles and civil construction equipment. This role offers variety, challenge, and the opportunity to support projects that help keep Hawke's Bay moving. What You'll Be Doing Carrying out servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy vehicles and plant equipment Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults Undertaking breakdown repairs and responding to callouts when required Completing maintenance records and service documentation accurately Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard Working on a range of civil construction equipment including excavators, loaders, graders, rollers, trucks, and other heavy plant Supporting operational teams to minimise downtime and maximise equipment performance Conducting inspections and identifying potential issues before they impact operations Participating in an on-call roster as required Travelling across the Hawke's Bay region to support site-based equipment when needed What You'll Bring To The Role Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles and equipment Experience working on plant such as excavators, graders, loaders, rollers, trucks, and other civil construction equipment Level 4 Trade Qualification in Heavy Automotive Engineering or overseas equivalent Class 2-5 licence highly desirable Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Commitment to maintaining a safety-first culture Availability to participate in an on-call roster A positive attitude and willingness to be part of a high-performing team Why Join Higgins?
