Job Description

You\'ll be supporting the delivery of high-quality culinary experiences at some of New Zealand's most prestigious functions. You will be an experienced chef who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and have demonstrated experience working large scale events. Mō te tūnga | About the role: As our full-time Events Chef de Partie, you will be at the centre of our events catering operation - co-ordinating and preparing menu items to the highest standards for a wide range of functions across the parliamentary precinct. You'll work closely with the Sous Chef, and supervise shift operations in their absence, manage meal service periods, and support and train junior chefs. Prepare and cook high-quality dishes for events, functions, and hospitality services across the parliamentary precinct. Assist in menu planning and development for events, with a focus on local and seasonal ingredients. Maintain high standards of hygiene, food delivery, and discipline across all kitchens, in line with kitchen standards, codes of practice, government legislation, and Parliamentary Service policy. Ensure proper usage of food and minimisation of waste, consulting with the Sous Chef as required. Tō kete | What you\'ll bring to the role: Proven experience in events or function catering within prestigious setting, specialising in large scale events. A recognised Chef qualification is required for this role, and ideally you will be certified in food safety training. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a busy kitchen team. A reliable and professional approach, with a strong focus on punctuality, consistency, and preparation. The ability to follow direction, manage service pressures, and contribute positively to team culture. Experience across both à la carte and function catering environments. Experience in having responsibility for dietary requirements would be advantageous for this role. A positive attitude and enthusiasm to the team. Flexibility with scheduling - shifts and times may vary. The appointing salary band for this role is $64,485 - $70,979 per annum (the remuneration band extends beyond the appointing salary to account for tenure progression).
