Job Description
About The Role The Health and Safety Specialist is a technical specialist, responsible for leading occupational health and safety, risk and emergency management systems and processes. Your success will be measured through your ability to gain buy-in, partner with others and build on our already established health and safety frameworks to ensure a culture of safety is maintained. Complimenting your technical knowledge will be your strong interpersonal skills, where you are seen as approachable, receptive to feedback and willing and able to work alongside others to ensure the design and management of health and safety tools and frameworks are fit-for-purpose and embedded. Specific duties include: Provide support, guidance and advice on Health and Safety matters across the hospital Measure and proactively report on key H&S metrics and identify and implement improvement opportunities Support, review and develop health and safety systems, processes and policies to meet organisational needs Partner with leaders and employees to ensure the development and effective management of rehabilitation and safe handling programs In conjunction with key stakeholders, lead the management of Mercy's emergency management planning and preparedness Develop an in-depth understanding of Mercy's incident management system and support stakeholders to best utilise and manage incidents and risks Skills And Experience A relevant qualification in Health and Safety or extensive experience in a similar role Sound knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 Extensive knowledge of effective risk and incident management Self-led learner with strong networking skills A high degree of interpersonal skills to enable effective consultation, facilitation and presentations.
