Job Description

We are seeking a capableindividual with relevant skills and experience in the health and safetyarea to become part of the Health and Safety Team which will be basedat the Petone campus, with a requirement to work across all campuses. About the role | Te Kaupapa Reporting to the Team LeaderHealth and Safety, you will work collaboratively with the wider team, who willguide and support you along the way to drive, influence and imbed health andsafety into our organisation. We are currently engaged invarious initiatives to align the systems and practices of Whitireia andWelTec. In this role there will be an opportunity for you to gainexposure to multiple aspects of health and safety in a complex environment.This role is a great opportunity for a health and safety professional lookingto take on their next challenge and expand their horizon. Key Accountabilities Ensure incidents are responded to in a timelymanner, and followed up where an investigation is required. Collaborate with the team to design and implementhealth and safety solutions. Actively drive organisational change throughreinforcing positive safety behaviours and modelling health and safetywithin the organisation. Ensure training and revalidation of health andsafety activities are arranged and recorded within the electronicSharePoint system. Help to coordinate and facilitate our Health andSafety Representative network. Conduct health and safety audits and reviews overall campuses ensuring all actions and outcomes are completed. Ensure you keep up to date with various acts and regulationsand have an awareness of programme deliveries and how they impact onhealth and safety. Work closely with managers at all levels ensuringthey are aware of their responsibilities and hazard/risk managementrequirements. Assist your manager in monthly reporting to JLT. About you Our ideal candidate will have healthand safety experience and working knowledge of the Health and Safety At WorkAct (2015) and appropriate regulations. You will be customer focused, with astrong collaborative approach and the ability to tailor your approach to suit avariety of internal and external customers. Excellent communication andcomputer skills are a must as you will be working across all ourcampuses and talking with a variety of stakeholders. Essential Knowledge and Skills Ideally, you will have thefollowing background and experience: Relevant Health & Safety qualifications or awillingness to work towards one New Zealand Institute of Safety Management (NZISM)accreditation, or a willingness to work towards one Experience in a Health and Safety Advisor orCoordinator role A successful track record with persuading, coachingand influencing A willingness to work independently and as part ofa team on key projects Strong organising and prioritising skills Good knowledge of Microsoft programmes and databases Relationship and stakeholder management experience,including proven negotiation skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
