Estimator/Quantity Surveyor - Wanganui

My client started three and a half years ago with one digger, one truck, and a lot of ambition. Now they’ve grown into a stable and established team with strong council and Tier 1 relationships across the Whanganui region, and have picked up a number of industry awards along the way. With a vision to move away from predominantly smaller residential pricing toward larger scalable and varied work, they need someone with extensive experience to own that pricing process for them. About the role You’ll be the sole QS/Estimator, pricing everything from small residential paving/pathway jobs to major civil and commercial tenders. It’s part estimating, part post-contract QS, with some sales and relationship-building mixed in. You will be venturing out on site visits, meeting clients, and helping win the work, not just pricing it. What you’ll be doing Pricing residential, commercial and civil work from small to multi-million dollar tenders Handling post-contract QS responsibilities on live projects Site visits and relationship-building with clients and councils Working closely with the owners as a key part of a tight-knit team Assisting with systems and process improvement to maximise efficiency What you’ll need NZ construction experience is essential Strong varied estimating and QS experience. You’ll need to hit the ground running Comfortable pricing at scale, up into the multi-millions A tertiary qualification is a bonus, not a dealbreaker The ability to build relationships both internally and externally The business They are family-run with a big focus on culture and social enterprise, supporting women in construction and Māori and Pacific communities.
