Job Description
About the Role As a Line Mechanic Team Leader, you will lead a team to manage and deliver work safely, efficiently and positively, you’ll provide hands‑on technical support, scoping and planning assistance, and ensure all jobs are completed to specification, on time, and within budget. You’ll work closely with supervisors and management to align on job objectives while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for leading, motivating, and directing team members to achieve agreed work objectives while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational performance. You will complete Workplace Competency (WTC) assessments across people, plant, equipment, and site activities, conduct audits and quality checks, and ensure plant and equipment are compliant, tested, fit for purpose, and in good working order. You will promote a proactive safety culture through toolbox checks and effective communication, while accurately scoping jobs and identifying environmental and other influencing factors. You will plan and allocate labour, plant, and materials, ensuring jobs are correctly scoped and priced, and that hours, plant, and equipment are accurately allocated to the appropriate job or non-chargeable codes. You will interpret technical drawings and specifications, provide guidance to the team, and ensure all required reports are completed accurately and on time. You will also identify opportunities for cost savings and continuous improvement, while communicating financial performance and job progress to the team in a clear, practical, and engaging way. Experience Relevant electrical trade qualification(s) NZ Electrical Registration (EWRB) with a current practising licence Strong knowledge of Codes of Practice, relevant legislation, policies, standards, and the Safe Manual Electricity Industry (SE-MI) Current Workplace Competencies (WTCs) as required for the role Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience Proven team leadership experience Strong planning and organisational skills Ability to foster and promote a positive safety culture Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability High integrity, consistency, and composure under pressure Ability to motivate, influence, and support others What We Offer Our team is committed to creating a positive and supportive work environment where collaboration is highly valued.
