About The Team The Application Services Group within our Information Services and Technology Division (IST) is responsible for managing Transpower’s portfolio of applications and their cost-effective and seamless integration to meet business requirements through application acquisition or development, application life-cycle management, root cause analysis and problem resolution as well as additions and enhancements. About The Opportunity Application Services works under the guidance of our Digital Strategy team to deliver products in accordance with enterprise standards. The IT systems built and operated by Application Services are a key part of the ongoing planning, maintenance, management and real-time operation of New Zealand’s national electricity grid infrastructure and the electricity market. As Operations Analyst you will primarily support a portfolio of Transmission applications. You’ll take responsibility for incident management and troubleshooting, drawing on the expertise of senior team members and other internal and external teams where needed. This is a hands‑on role across operational support, technical analysis, minor changes and enhancements, project delivery, transition to operations, and DevOps practices including automation and simplification of routine tasks. Specifically, you will: perform Incident and Problem Management activities to resolve and close out system issues within agreed SLAs pursue continuous improvement and reduction of technical debt through robust problem analysis and automation of routine operational tasks and service requests develop minor changes, service requests and enhancements through configuration or scripting deploy application patches and upgrades, and support operating system patching with infrastructure teams maintain service documentation, support knowledge base material and Disaster Recovery processes where required query data, provide data fixes, analyse application performance and contribute to improvement plans participate in the team’s 24/7 on‑call roster where required As a key member of the team, you will also work collaboratively with Solution Architects, Designers, Technical Specialists, Developers and operations staff to define and deliver changes, support transition to operations activity, and contribute to automation, testing and monitoring practices. Who We're Looking For With strong written and verbal communication skills, you’ll be comfortable working with technical and non‑technical people at all levels of the organisation, and with vendors and partners who support components of our solutions. You’ll enjoy working in cross‑functional teams and know what it takes to achieve outcomes - whether it be the delivery of new capability or supporting existing functions. You’ll bring practical applications support experience, curiosity, and a continuous improvement mindset. You’ll enjoy using logging and monitoring tools to investigate issues, identify root causes and support reliable service delivery. We’re interested in hearing from people who bring some of the following: Around 4 years’ experience as an Operations Analyst, Applications Analyst or in a similar applications support role Experience supporting critical 24 x 7 system Experience with Incident and Problem Management, including working across teams to resolve issues within agreed SLAs Demonstrated ability to identify root cause through technical analysis and use of logging and monitoring tools Experience operating in a complex environment with diverse technologies, suppliers and vendors A basic understanding of IT architecture across infrastructure and applications A relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience would be useful. Experience with any of the following would be useful, but is not essential: Openshift/Docker Ansible Linux (RHEL) Windows Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence) Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Grafana ITIL and/or CIMS training or experience Please note: this role provides 24x7 on‑call support as required on a rostered basis.
