The Opportunity A nationally significant public sector organisation is investing in the maturity of its technology vendor and commercial management capability and is seeking an experienced IT Commercial Manager to help lead that journey. This is a newly created permanent position within a newly established team, offering the opportunity to build capability, introduce governance, and drive real commercial value across a diverse portfolio of technology suppliers. This is not a procurement or sourcing role. Instead, you will focus on the post-award lifecycle, ensuring technology vendors deliver against their contractual commitments, commercial benefits are realised, costs are optimised, and supplier performance is actively managed. If you enjoy creating order from complexity, influencing stakeholders, and improving commercial outcomes through strong contract and vendor management, this could be the perfect next step. What You’ll Be Doing Commercial Contract Management Review and analyse a portfolio of IT supplier agreements. Develop contract summaries covering scope, obligations, KPIs, renewal dates, pricing mechanisms and commercial risks. Identify opportunities to strengthen commercial outcomes and contractual compliance. Manage renewals, extensions, variations and contract lifecycle activities. Supplier Performance & Governance Establish and enhance supplier governance frameworks. Monitor vendor performance against KPIs, SLAs and contractual obligations. Lead vendor review meetings and performance improvement initiatives. Build trusted relationships with suppliers while holding them accountable for outcomes. Commercial Insights & Value Realisation Partner closely with Finance and Technology teams to analyse spend and identify cost optimisation opportunities. Support benefits realisation across key technology investments. Improve visibility of commercial commitments, supplier performance and risk exposure. Develop meaningful reporting and decision-ready commercial insights for leadership. Strategic Commercial Support Provide commercial input into technology planning, roadmaps and investment discussions. Help shape a more mature commercial operating model across the technology function. Drive best-practice contract and vendor management disciplines across the organisation. What We’re Looking For Strong experience managing technology vendor contracts in a complex environment. Commercial acumen with the ability to balance cost, value, risk and service outcomes. Experience improving supplier performance and managing strategic vendor relationships. Strong analytical capability and the ability to translate data into practical recommendations. Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. Confidence working in environments where processes and governance frameworks are still evolving.
