The New Zealand Mortality Review Data Group (NZMRDG) sits within the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health within the Faculty of Medicine - Dunedin. The NZMRDG supports New Zealand's National Mortality Review Committee | He Mutunga Kore, providing the systems and data that enable meaningful analysis and reporting to improve health outcomes. We're looking for a talented Systems Analyst/Developer to join the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, supporting the systems used by the New Zealand Mortality Review Committee (NZMRDG).
The NZMRDG plays a vital role in collecting, analysing and reporting mortality data to support national mortality review committees and inform recommendations that help reduce preventable deaths across Aotearoa New Zealand.
In this role, you'll develop, enhance and maintain the systems that underpin this important work. Working within an experienced development team, you'll contribute to the ongoing evolution of web-based applications and databases while collaborating closely with researchers, analysts and subject matter experts.

You'll be an enthusiastic software developer who enjoys solving problems and building practical solutions that make a difference. To be successful, you'll have:
A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Experience developing applications using PHP, ideally with the Laravel framework.
Knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL.
Experience with JavaScript and Python scripting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
The ability to translate user requirements into effective technical solutions.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week), permanent position, based in Otepoti, Dunedin.
The appointment range for this role is $75,631 to $80,503. Top of range $88,750 per year.
