We have 1 X Cook position available in Auckland region. The position is full time and permanent. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Must be enthusiastic, fast and hard working. Must have either a relevant qualification or at least 2 years of relevant work experience with proven knowledge in cooking especially Indian Cuisine. Experience/knowledge of Indian cuisine/culture and Knowledge of Preparing Nepali dishes is a bonus. Good working Knowledge of Regional cuisines and a willingness to learn new things. Examine food to maintain quality, quantity and taste. Responsible and cooking the food according to customer orders. Good communication skills and a positive attitude. Should be a passionate Hospitality Professional. The position will require Weekend work, late-night work, public holidays and split shifts. Able to work flexible hours and cover up large orders and catering. Able to work standing for long hours. Able to do heavy lifting. Assist Front of House staff if required to cover breaks. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS Main responsibility is to prepare and cook Indian curries, tandoori dishes, Snacks and starters. Assist the senior staff with planning of menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order food supplies. Maintaining high standards of quality, taste and presentation of each item as set out by the restaurant. Ensure the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation are as per the standards. Knows how to check deliveries, including weight, temperature, and use-by-dates on raw ingredients. Oversee deliveries and ensure they are stored safely and hygienically in our stock. Check that all food safety regulations and procedures are fully complied with. Report any defective equipment or safety hazards within the kitchen. Conduct any special daily or periodic duties (e.g., Refrigerator/Freezer temperature readings/recordings). Encourage safe working procedures and comply with statutory and company health and safety regulations, especially those regarding fire precautions, manual handling, chemical usage and storage, waste materials disposal, and accident reporting. Work with the Restaurant Manager or Head chef for kitchen duties. Maintaining kitchen equipment and tools in perfect working condition. Maintaining high standards of personal and workplace hygiene. Maintaining impeccable personal hygiene as well as high work and safety standards in the workplace. To preserve the food and freeze them as required. Honest, punctual and reliable. Have a genuine interest in food and the hospitality industry. Full job responsibility will be provided with the Employment contract letter.
